AASL Standard & Assessment practice

AASL standard: 2.1.6: Use the writing process, media and visual literacy, and technology skills to create products that express new understandings.

Students will be able to create originial work.

Students will be able to express their learning in their own words.

Students will understand the principles of each communicative medium.

Students will be able to explain their creative and design choices.

Performance task:

** This performance task includes other standards from other curricular areas. This would be a summative assessment, done at the end of a unit.

An alien from outer space has just transferred to your school. He has no knowledge of the American government system. Using one of the mediums from the list, create an explanation to help your new alien friend understand his new home.


Choose from: brochure, poster, prezi, flip movie, website, podcast, or storyboard.

Assessment:

Students will be assessed using a rubric. There will be five criteria on this rubric: Content, Creativity, Execution, Citation, and Spelling & Grammar. The content does not apply to the AASL standard, but the other criteria does.
